The Name of the Wind

Is “storm”.

I’m currently sitting in my parents’ livingroom, reading blogs and listening to the wind howling outside. Or, that’s not right, stricktly speaking. What I’m listening to is the sound of the livingroom windows, which are facing the fjord outside, creaking in their fastenings and bending inwards, because of the pressure of the wind. And these are either double or triple windows, I might add…

Then there’s the noise the roof makes as it’s almost torn off by the worst gales; the vague crashes and bangs of various gardening tools that’re being blown about and occasionally hits the house’s wall with some force; the wind in the chimney; the walls shaking; the contents of the kitchen cupboards, as well as the cupboards themselves, trembling under the force of the storm; and to really emphasise all of this, the worst gusts of wind actually make the house vibrate on its foundations.

Man, I’m glad I don’t have to be outside in this weather!

We got the same weather up here where I live. I was outside to change the garbage bags at work, and when I shook it open, a great gust of wind managed to blow so hard that the whole thing just blew open. Of course, that’s not so surprising when you know how flimsy those garbage bags really are…

Here it is just nice. Some light snowfall and no wind.
